In the 12 months up to January 2021, VPSBenchmarks put 180 cloud servers from 40 providers through a demanding suite of benchmarks to evaluate their performance as web servers, their capacity to handle heavy loads, their stability and the speed at which they can transfer data through the network. These are the Best VPS in 6 price ranges.
In the past year, UpCloud and Vultr dominated the $25 or less cloud server market, offering VPS that can rival the performance of many twice as expensive competing products. Vultr performance is at its best with its High Frequency instances that feature guaranteed fast CPUs for just a little extra cost. UpCloud is the fastest in the lowest price range but maybe its most remarkable quality is its consistency: trial after trial, all UpCloud instances tested on VPSBenchmarks came up with reliably fast benchmarks.
At the high end of the market, Kamatera and Genesis Public Cloud lead our rankings. Genesis offers the newest CPUs in the market and it's one of the few providers that let you choose precisely the CPU and storage type that your want. With good showings at all prices, Kamatera offers a large array of VPS options available in many locations throughout the world. The "General" type of Kamatera servers has been a strong performer for a long time.
LayerStack, a dynamic provider based in Hong-Kong performed very well in the mid-range. LayerStack offers recent hardware and a modern management UI in east Asia and in the United States.

We also publish a new ranking every month with just the VPS that were tested during the previous 30 days. It's declined in 2 versions: "Best VPS" and "Best Value VPS". The same products have been tested in both but in the Value ranking, the grades and scores are price weighted.
